St-Martin was most recently chief revenue officer at the Montreal-headquartered firm, which he joined in May 2019 when it acquired his startup Chronogolf. Chief business officer Michael DeSimone will leave the firm at the end of the year. (The Logic)
Talking point: St-Martin is a slightly delayed successor to JP Chauvet, who himself took over from founder Dax Dasilva as CEO in February. Lightspeed has also named new heads of finance, operations, people and technology since the pandemic began. The firm has spent the year integrating a string of increasingly sizable acquisitions—including DeSimone’s ShopKeep—and launching services based on their tech under its own brand, like a supplier network. On his first earnings call in the top job in February, Chauvet said Lightspeed’s focus now is to find a “path to profitability” and “sustain growth.” St-Martin’s job will include driving sales to generate organic growth, for which Lightspeed has set a target of 35 to 40 per cent for 2022.
