Roadmap to Future Workplaces aims to provide legal guidance and to reform company policies that it says enable workplace sexual violence. The project is run by the Canadian Women’s Foundation, volunteer group AfterMeToo and the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network. The funding is coming from the Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention Fund. (Globe and Mail)
Talking point: The $3.5-million fund was set up in the 2018 federal budget to help companies adapt to the government’s new rules on workplace harassment and violence in federally regulated workplaces. However, only about eight per cent of Canadians work in federally regulated industries, such as banking, telecommunications and the federal public service. Hajdu has said she hopes businesses that aren’t covered by the rules will change their rules and culture, as those that must comply do the same. AfterMeToo plans to collect research and education resources on Rosa, the website on which the roadmap will live.
