Talking point: Four-fifths of survey respondents said they are struggling under the U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods, including through higher import and production costs—and lower revenues. Ninety per cent said they want to see the federal government provide incentives and support to help Canadian businesses retool and create new products and services for export markets outside the U.S., while 92 per cent said they want Ottawa to make good on promises to tear down barriers to internal trade. The majority of 501 respondents to the online survey also want a timeline for tax reform in the Nov. 4 federal budget, and to see the federal government working with the provinces to reduce the overall corporate tax rate by two to four per cent.
