Talking point: Canada is hosting the IEA conference for the first time, as Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson says other countries are looking to Canada as a trusted alternative in energy supply and expertise. The minister said Canada has a particular advantage when it comes to nuclear power, as one of the few countries that offers end-to-end nuclear solutions. Birol said it will be good for the stability of the energy market if Canada can establish itself as a major exporter of small modular reactors and renewable energy.
