Talking point: The healthtech business has boomed during the pandemic. Capital invested into the sector grew from just over US$42 billion in 2019 to over US$112 billion so far this year, according to PitchBook. Mergers and acquisitions as a share of these investments have skyrocketed almost tenfold from US$5.7 billion to US$53.7 billion in the same period. There are already signs that there will be a “ton of acquisition” in the healthtech sector, said Shaw.
