In a lawsuit filed in Ontario Superior Court, Nadine Ahn claimed the bank wrongfully terminated her in April and “caused her devastating, worldwide reputational harm” by putting out a release announcing she was fired following an internal investigation that found she had an undisclosed personal relationship with a colleague, whom the bank said Ahn unfairly promoted and granted compensation increases. Talking point: Ken Mason, the former RBC executive with whom Ahn allegedly had the relationship, has also sued the bank, seeking nearly $22 million in pay and damages. Mason and Ahn were fired on the same day in April. In a statement to the Globe and Bloomberg, RBC spokesperson Gillian McArdle said the two former executives’ claims “are without merit, and we will vigorously defend against them in court.” Ahn’s firing took her out of the running to become the first woman CEO of one of Canada’s Big Six banks.
