Talking point: BrightDrop launched in January 2021 with FedEx as its first customer, and the company expects to deploy 2,500 of the vehicles in coming years. FedEx used Toronto as the original testing grounds for the vans, and will now use them commercially in Toronto, Montreal and Surrey, B.C. FedEx’s move comes as other companies, including Canada’s Purolator and Canada Post, are greening their fleets as well.
