The grocer reported its third-quarter revenue jumped 4.6 per cent to roughly $19.4 billion, while net earnings attributable to common shareholders rose 2.2 per cent to $794 million. (The Logic)

Talking point: Sales in its food business were up 4.8 per cent as more customers shopped at Loblaw chains and bought more during their visits. The company said its hard discount stores, a division including its No Frills and Maxi brands, outperformed its conventional brands. Loblaw has been prioritizing launching new discount stores, opening 19 Maxi and No Frills locations in the past quarter. CEO Per Bank said its market share of online sales is also growing. E-commerce sales for the quarter were up 18 per cent.
