It also hasn’t outlined timelines for companies to stop the misleading practices, or specific consequences if they fail to do so.The CRTC often takes months or years to follow up on its own suggestions. For example, last year, the commission started putting together a mandatory code of conduct for internet service providers; it has yet to be enforced. On the topic of misleading sales, the CRTC has been slow to act since the outset. The commission initially declined to conduct a review into misleading sales practices, and only did so after the federal government ordered it to.
