Talking point: The 200-person company, which was founded in 2009, generates US$24 million in annual revenue. It has been attracting interest from private equity inventors for the past two years, spurred in part by its decision to create machine learning-powered bots for its customers. Unbounce’s customers include Hootsuite, World Vision and The New York Times, and it claims to have powered over one billion conversions. Aside from a seed round in 2011, CEO Rick Perreault told TechCrunch the company has not taken on any outside funding, but did so now to invest in more machine-learning technology and boost its team by 50 per cent.
