Talking point: The cancellation is the biggest yet in a wave to hit Canadian tech. Several Canadian firms, including Shopify, OpenText and Vena Solutions, have cancelled their company conferences in recent days. A running tally shows that 167 conferences globally have now been cancelled, delayed or moved online. Among them is the annual TED 2020 conference, scheduled to take place in Vancouver in April, which will now either be held online or postponed. “Moments like these, you have to try and do the responsible thing,” Web Summit chief executive Paddy Cosgrave told The Globe.
