Listed No. 15 this year, Canada has become less competitive in attracting and developing talent, falling behind countries like Iceland and Germany, according to an annual index by the international graduate business school INSEAD. (The Logic)

Talking point: Switzerland and Singapore continue to dominate first and second place, respectively, with Nordic countries following closely behind. The U.S. has dropped out of the top three for the first time since 2017. The index measures how 133 countries and 175 cities attract, grow and retain talent. Researchers found the pandemic has set back recent progress on gender parity in high-skilled jobs, reduced the reading ability of children in low- to middle-income countries and created irreversible shocks for girls’ school attendance rate.
