Talking point: This is Gotham’s largest fundraising to date, bringing its total financing to US$440 million since its inception in 2009. The company plans to use the cash to build three new facilities in Texas, Georgia and Colorado; in 2023, it expects to own over 40 acres of indoor farmland across 13 greenhouses. Investor interest in dense, indoor (or vertical) farming has been on the rise in recent years as supply-chain worries and high grocery costs bring food security concerns to the forefront.
