Talking point: BlackBerry’s embedded software business, QNX, helped drive the strong results last quarter, with revenue up 26 per cent from a year earlier, reaching US$72.3 million. The company also expanded a contract with the federal government for its SecuSUITE encrypted communications platform, which helped boost revenue in its Secure Communications division by 24 per cent to US$73.6 million. The stronger-than-expected quarter prompted BlackBerry to raise its full-year revenue forecast to between US$594 million and US$621 million, up from its previous guidance of US$584 million to US$611 million. The company’s share price was up about 20 per cent by midday Thursday.
