Talking point: Changpeng Zhao is swooping in on former rival FTX’s territory once again. FTX had won a September auction to acquire Voyager’s crypto assets for US$1.4 billion. With the Bahamas-based platform having itself collapsed—thanks in no small part to Zhao backing out of an agreement to acquire it—Voyager’s assets were back on the auction block. Zhao is the CEO of Binance and a majority shareholder in Binance.US, a separate legal entity. Binance.US Chief Executive Officer Brian Shroder told Bloomberg he is on the lookout for other distressed crypto companies that might make good acquisition opportunities.
