The crypto giant sent and received more than US$1 billion to and from accounts controlled by Hamas and other groups responsible for the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks on civilian targets in Israel, a U.S. lawsuit made public on Monday alleges. The lawsuit, filed by victims of the attacks and their families, names Binance, its Canadian co-founder Changpeng Zhao and Binance executive Guangying Chen. (The Logic)
Talking point: U.S. President Donald Trump pardoned Zhao in October after he and Binance pleaded guilty to violating anti-money-laundering laws in 2023, but his legal troubles persist. Binance declined to provide an on-the-record comment in response to the lawsuit.
