The company’s response comes as the FTC has become more aggressive with efforts to rein in Big Tech firms. Chair Lina Khan, who started in the position about a year ago, has questioned more mergers than her predecessors and made stricter settlements that require companies to undo some parts of their mergers. Amazon has taken issue with Khan from the start, asking for her to recuse herself from investigations of the company shortly after her appointment was confirmed.
