The video platform shut down Tenet Media and other channels run by Quebec-born Lauren Chen and husband Liam Donovan following a Justice Department indictment alleging that two employees of Russian-backed broadcaster RT were paying right-wing personalities in the United States to produce content. Though not named in the indictment, court filing details match up with Tenet Media. (Washington Post, The Logic)
Talking Point: Incorporated in Tennessee in 2022, Tenet Media produced thousands of videos “often consistent with the Government of Russia’s interest in amplifying U.S. domestic divisions in order to weaken U.S. opposition to core Government of Russia interests, such as its ongoing war in Ukraine,” reads the indictment. Chen also contributed to right-wing outlet The Blaze as well as conservative nonprofit Turning Point USA. Her profile has since been removed from both sites. Tenet Media content is still available on Rumble, the Toronto-based video platform popular with right-wing users.
