New York-based live-shopping startup Supergreat will stop operating Dec. 15 and most of its staff will move to work at California-based Whatnot, which also runs a live-shopping service, according to a Supergreat staff email viewed by The Information. (The Information)
Talking point: Neither Supergreat nor Whatnot immediately responded to The Logic’s request for comment. It’s unclear how many Supergreat staff will join Whatnot. Supergreat has 36 employees, according to PitchBook, while Whatnot’s total more than 450. Supergreat had raised more than US$53 million, according to PitchBook. Shopify invested in its last round, a US$20-million Series B in December 2021 when it was valued at US$100 million. Live shopping, which has been a staple in China and other Asian countries for years, has been growing in popularity in North America.
