Greenoaks Capital led the round in the New York-based live-streaming platform and shopping app. The deal brings total funding in the celebrity-backed startup to nearly US$30 million. (The Information)
Talking point: Supergreat’s platform focuses on user-generated beauty-product and -brand reviews. It prompts users to search for products by specific traits, like hair or skin type, which generates valuable data to let brands create more targeted advertising. Shopify is a fitting presence on its cap table. Supergreat co-founder and CEO Tyler Faux told The Information that many brands on the platform have Shopify stores. The deal adds to the e-commerce firm’s growing portfolio of startups that complement its business. According to PitchBook, it’s backed 12 startups this year in sectors ranging from media to business productivity to fintech to logistics.
