The Mouvement d’éducation et de la défense des actionnaires (MÉDAC) abolished the executive director position effective Aug. 7, it said Thursday. (The Logic)
Talking point: Gagnon had been with MÉDAC for 19 years, and was a fixture of Canada’s proxy season, regularly appearing at senate committees and corporate annual meetings to press banks and other public companies on various shareholder concerns. During the 2026 proxy season meetings of Canada’s Big Six banks, he was often the only shareholder to speak in support of MÉDAC’s proposals, which ranged from board diversity targets to the governance of AI. MÉDAC said its board has put measures in place to ensure continuity following his departure.
