Talking point: The proposed law is similar to the Building Canada Act, the federal law passed in June that combines all federal government approvals into one process, overseen by a single minister. It would be used to expedite as many as five yet-to-be-chosen major projects in Quebec over the next five years, Finance Minister Eric Girard said. It comes as Environment Minister Bernard Drainville said his department plans to reduce processing times for environmental permits.
