This July, customers will be able to place orders using the DoorDash app to shop at Loblaw-owned brands, including Shoppers Drug Mart, starting in Vancouver, the Greater Toronto Area, Calgary and Kitchener, Ont. (The Logic)

Talking point: The partnership does not guarantee deliveries will arrive within 30 minutes. DoorDash will also fulfill same-day deliveries for Loblaw. Companies are increasingly trying to make deliveries faster and a slew of startups promising delivery times as fast as within 10 minutes started operating in Canada. Last week, Toronto’s Buggy, an e-grocery provider, acquired ultra-fast delivery startup Ninja, which had recently laid off much of its staff pending a possible acquisition. But the high-cost, low-margin sector could be in trouble in the current economy that’s made cheap capital less accessible. Jokr recently announced it will stop serving Boston and New York, and lay off about 50 office staff.
