The former Bank of Canada’s governor who most recently helmed the Bank of England will speak at the Liberal convention tonight at 7 p.m. ET in a keynote conversation with Marci Ien. (The Logic)
Talking point: Political watchers will be keen to see if Carney’s appearance signals plans to run for the Liberals. He considered a leadership run in 2012, but eventually said he’d just as soon become a “circus clown” and left for the U.K. role. He’s since been part of a group of unofficial pandemic advisors to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Carney also recently wrote a book that has been called “a bold and urgent argument” on building an economy and society on human values over market values. He faced criticism of greenwashing after saying Brookfield Asset Management, where he is vice-chair, had achieved net-zero emissions.
