    Cyberattack on Newfoundland and Labrador’s health system leads to thousands of appointment delays

    Health Minister John Haggie said in a media conference the “brain” of the Bell-operated data centre was damaged by a “third party.” According to Haggie and David Diamond, CEO of Eastern Health, the province’s largest health authority, the eastern region was hit the hardest, leading to the cancellation of all non-emergency medical appointments and procedures.     The e-commerce giant said in an SEC filing that it had 20 per cent ownership interest in the California-based EV maker, which is manufacturing 100,000 Amazon delivery vans and is in the process of going public. (The Logic)

    The Tamil Guardian, a news site catering to Tamils both in Sri Lanka and abroad, said its Instagram page was suspended “without any prior warning or explanation,” prompting Liberal MP Gary Anandasangaree to organize an event with fellow Liberal Nathaniel Erskine-Smith and Conservative MP Michael Chong, demanding the move be rescinded.     Facebook’s rebrand sparks Meta confusion, boosting shares in Halifax’s Meta Materials

    The material-technology company’s stock rose Friday to a high of nearly 25 per cent compared with Thursday’s close. The surge occurred after the tech giant announced it will change its name to Meta Platforms. Facebook’s shares were up 2.1 per cent at Friday’s close. Other than having similar names, the two companies appear to have no relation to each other. (The Logic)

    Shaw stays mum on Rogers family turmoil amid steady Q4 results

    The telecom company that both sides in the Rogers family feud say they’re committed to buying reported higher revenue, profit and cash flow in its last quarter, and for the whole of its 2021 fiscal year. Shaw posted $1.38 billion in revenue in its last quarter, compared to $1.35 billion in the same period in 2020, and boosted its net income to $252 million from $175 million. (The Logic)

    Breather co-founder raises US$10M for new coaching venture

    Practice, founded by Julien Smith of Breather, announced a seed round led by Andrew Chen, a partner at Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from other individual investors, including self-help guru Tony Robbins and Tiny Capital co-founder Andrew Wilkinson.
