Talking point: The move is in an effort to show that the company has made progress in dealing with problem content on its platform. YouTube was also the latest tech giant to block Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes from using its services, albeit for “copyright violations.” Facebook and Twitter had previously blocked McInnes because his account violated community standards, including hate speech and violence. On Tuesday, Google CEO Sundar Pichai faced questions from U.S. Congress, including about Frazzledrip, a new and absurd conspiracy theory about Hillary Clinton that was largely spread through YouTube’s platform. Pichai said YouTube needed to do more to combat disinformation.
