Talking point: This is the second formal extension over the past year of the still-tentative project’s timeline. In August 2019, the two parties agreed to push the approval deadline from Sept. 30, 2019 to March 31, 2020. The deadline to come to an implementation agreement was also pushed from Dec. 31, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2020. But the implementation deadline isn’t being pushed back any further this time, Andrew Tumilty, a spokesperson for the agency, told The Logic. Tumilty said the agency expects the amendment to the current agreement to be signed by both parties and made publicly available “sometime next week.” These deadlines indicate termination points for the parties’ agreement: if both don’t approve of the final plan, the partnership could come to an end.
