Talking point: The fulfillment centre will be in the Montreal exurb of Vaudreuil-Dorion, whose proximity to highways and relatively cheap rent has made it and the nearby area home to a burgeoning number of distribution centres like Amazon, Canadian Tire and FedEx. In 2020, Walmart Canada announced a five-year, $3.5-billion investment in the country. It also unveiled plans earlier this year to establish a Toronto tech hub, where it will add “hundreds of new jobs.”
