The Swedish AI and cloud-computing software company announced it will buy Copperleaf Technologies for $12 per share, representing a roughly 18 per cent premium on the company’s stock price as of Monday. (The Logic)
Talking point: Copperleaf, which sells software to large firms that helps them manage financial assets and operations, went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 2021. Copperleaf shares debuted at $15 a piece, and soon after reached a peak of around $25, but have slumped down to roughly $12 today. The takeover of Copperleaf marks the latest Canadian tech company to go private after joining the public markets during the frenzied years of 2020 and 2021, including Montreal-based fintech Nuvei, Montreal-based telemedicine firm Dialogue Health and Vancouver healthtech company CloudMD. Copperleaf shares leapt almost 17 per cent on the TSX on Tuesday.
