Talking point: In November 2018, Uber posted a job for a Toronto-based manager of grocery delivery tasked to “fundamentally evolve how people purchase their groceries.” In January, The Logic reported that the company was trying to deliver alcohol across Canada. Going after the food market puts Uber in competition with Instacart, as well as Loblaw’s $99-a-year grocery subscription service. On the alcohol front, Uber is competing with Foodora, which launched door-to-door delivery in Ottawa last week.
