Talking point: TikTok says the bill is a ban. It’s mounted an influencer campaign against the legislation, with popular creators voicing opposition on the short-video app and in congressional meetings. The Trump administration also previously tried to force ByteDance to sell, with Oracle set to do the deal. President Joe Biden has said he’ll sign the bill into law if it passes the Senate, but it might not move as quickly through the upper chamber. Critics say a sale or ban could entrench the monopoly of U.S. social platforms.
