Talking point: The government has touted the $200 million Women In Tech Fund as one of the largest funds in the world investing in women-led tech companies, but it’s faced some scrutiny over the details of the claim. The fund said it invests in seed, Series A and Series B companies led or co-led by women. This means a company with three male co-founders—but has women in a leadership position—can secure funding, as was the case with InnerSpace in March. For BDC’s part, its other investments in the last two months include Bridgit and Sampler which both have women founders and CEOs.
