Talking point: In November, Rumble said it was opening a U.S. headquarters in Florida and it previously took investments from Trump backers Peter Thiel and J.D. Vance. Trump’s move into media—backed by US$1 billion in private investment—is meant to fight “Silicon Valley, the mainstream media and Big Tech” in their alleged censorship of conservative voices; Rumble’s video platform is already part of beta testing for the Trump group’s social network Truth Social, and the two are in talks to have it supply infrastructure for a video-on-demand service. The companies did not disclose the deal’s financial terms. Last week, Rumble named Michael Ellis its general counsel; the former Trump administration official also once worked under Devin Nunes, a Republican congressman quitting to become the Trump media group’s CEO.
