The hospital has hired Dr. Anna Goldenberg to be its first chair in biomedical informatics and artificial intelligence. Goldenberg will work with Peter Laussen, the hospital’s chief of critical care, on artificial-intelligence research in healthcare, using the trillions of data points collected from SickKids’ intensive care unit to develop applications like predicting cardiac arrests five minutes before the heart stops beating. The position is the result of the Toronto tech community’s #Tech4SickKids campaign to raise $25 million for Sick Kids hospital. (Globe and Mail)
