Talking point: Existing investor Radical Ventures said CentML’s software helps firms better predict and optimize how their AI models will perform on different hardware. In a blog post, Gradient Ventures said it hopes CentML can help AI companies that are having trouble getting ahold of enough computing power, as demand for key graphics-processing units (GPUs) outweighs supply. CentML could help companies “make the most of the GPUs they run on” and “rent or buy fewer, cheaper, or more available hardware to deliver the same bleeding-edge AI experience,” the firm wrote. “We believe in a future where cutting-edge AI solutions are within reach for all,” CEO Gennady Pekhimenko, who is also a faculty member at the Vector Institute and associate professor at the University of Toronto, wrote on LinkedIn. “This investment brings us a giant leap closer to that vision.”
