Hoppa, a cost-comparison and booking site for traveller transportation like taxis or airport shuttles, released a list of the 50 most Instagrammable cities in the world for 2019, based on the number of posts using each city’s hashtag. Leading the list is London, with almost 120 million hashtagged Instagram posts, followed by Paris, New York City, Dubai and Istanbul. Toronto is 12th on the list. (South China Morning Post)
Talking point: A city’s “Instagrammability” is an increasingly important factor in the eyes of many world travellers. Some new developments seem to directly address this, such as the Vessel sculpture in New York City’s Hudson Yards development, of which there are reportedly up to one billion Instagram posts since it opened on March 15. To the (almost certain) dismay of Canadians coast-to-coast-to-coast, Toronto is the only city in Canada to make the list.
