Talking point: The move comes as Tesla accelerates its production of its lower-cost Model 3, in an attempt to overcome a volatile year that included the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission forcing Elon Musk to give up his role as chairman. The automaker is also facing difficulties due to North America’s winter weather, as some Model 3 owners are complaining about drained batteries during the recent extreme cold spell. However, it’s not just Tesla: Chevrolet’s Bolt and Nissan’s Leaf face similar issues. Last week in Canada, a Montreal electric-taxi company shut down, citing problems with its vehicles in winter months as a contributing factor.
