Talking point: The letter is yet another sign of frustration among some industry stakeholders about the slow rollout of open banking in Canada. Among its signatories are Mogo CEO David Feller, FinanceIt CEO Michael Garrity and Borrowell CEO Andrew Graham. It comes after the department released its plan for the upcoming year, which didn’t mention open banking or consumer-directed finance. “It is disappointing to see further indications from the federal government that this file is being left to gather dust,” CCI’s letter reads. Finance Canada spokesperson Anna Arneson said in an email that the department is supporting the rollout of open banking as outlined in Boissonnault’s mandate letter and will share next steps “when they become available.”
