Talking Point: Kevin Durant’s 35 Ventures, Vancouver-based Dapper Labs and other investors also participated in the round. Founded in 2020, Stadium Live previously raised a US$3-million seed round. Its platform has more than 500,000 users, according to the company. Users create avatars and can network with other sports fans, play sports-related games and watch livestreams to earn virtual money to enhance their avatars. It told TechCrunch it plans to use the money for engineering and product hiring and developing features to boost retention and monetization. It will also use the money to support its Android release, scheduled for the fourth quarter of the year.
