Talking point: CLO’s are groups of securities made up of corporate debt, often with low credit ratings and used to finance leveraged buyouts. Investors in the vehicles get regular interest payments from the loans. Halsey has raised seven CLOs worth a total of over US$3.2 billion since launching in 2019. The CLO market has been quiet in recent years, but started rebounding towards the end of 2023. HalseyPoint co-founder Lynn Hopton told The Wall Street Journal she expects more CLO activity this year, as the M&A market improves and U.S. banks begin investing in the vehicles again.
