In a 25-page response to the Liberals’ proposed scheme for combating hate, terrorism and illegal pornography online, Google said the rules should attack only illegal content, cover fewer communication platforms, give providers more time to evaluate complaints, demand less reporting to police, and bear smaller fines for noncompliance. Otherwise, they could have “unintended negative impacts on Canadians’ access to valuable information and services, privacy and freedom of expression, and the Canadian economy.” (The Logic)
