The Vancouver-based venture capital firm announced that it’s established a Albuquerque, N.M., office with an institutional investment from the New Mexico Finance Authority’s (NMFA) Venture Capital Program. (The Logic)
Talking point: Raven is the only Indigenous-led and owned impact investment firm in North America. The firm’s U.S. expansion and new investment builds on its close of a $100-million fund early last year, which included U.S.-based Bush Foundation. General Partner Althea Wishloff said the NMFA investment brings the fund to $110 million and assets under management to $150 million across three funds. The firm is hiring two additional U.S. based investment team members over the next few months. Nicole Johnny, investment associate at Raven and member of the Navajo Nation, said on LinkedIn that the new office will also help the firm collaborate with more local organizations.
