Talking point: The opposition Liberals, led by former CAQ party president Dominique Anglade, have struggled against Legault, with polls suggesting the party is hard-pressed to hang on to some of its Montreal-area strongholds. The sovereignist Parti Québécois is facing similar challenges. Legault is also campaigning on the CAQ’s protection of the French language and Quebec culture, having legislated to bolster language laws and state secularism. The tech sector has complained about both, saying the new laws make it difficult to attract talent in a labour-starved sector.
