As part of a settlement, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the State of Utah have mandated that Aylo, the Montreal-founded company behind adult website Pornhub, establish a program to prevent the distribution of such material on Aylo-owned websites. (The Logic)
Talking point: In the complaint against Aylo, the FTC and the State of Utah alleged the company facilitated the dissemination of child sexual abuse and non-consensual material on its websites by allowing users to upload explicit photos and videos with titles that invoked underage sex and rape, then failed to effectively ban these users despite promising to do so. In 2023, Aylo entered into a deferred prosecution agreement to resolve a U.S. federal criminal investigation regarding its relationship with a sex-trafficking website. “This settlement reaffirms and enhances Aylo’s efforts to prevent the publication of child sexual abuse material and non-consensual material on its platforms,” Aylo spokesperson Alexzandra Kekesi said in an email statement to The Logic.
