The Waterloo, Ont.-based tech firm announced Thursday that Ayman Antoun will take over the top job and join the board in late April. The Toronto-area executive was most recently president of IBM for the Americas from April 2020 to March 2023, and before that led the U.S. firm’s Canadian division. (The Logic)
Talking point: Antoun is the permanent successor to longtime CEO Mark Barrenechea, whom the OpenText board ousted last August as it launched a strategic review. The firm wants to focus on selling software and AI tools that help clients manage their information and power their AI systems. Regional and country head roles are typically sales-focused, and Antoun will need to help OpenText grow. The firm most recently reported US$1.28 billion in total revenue for its fiscal quarter through September 2025, up 1.5 per cent year over year. Cloud sales contributed US$485 million, and rose six per cent on an annual basis. OpenText’s stock traded down as much as 4.9 per cent on Thursday.
