Talking point: The partnership extends Nuvei’s growing cryptocurrency reach. Since it bought Simplex last year for roughly US$250 million, the company has made partnerships to convert fiat to crypto for Visa and Dapper Labs. Simplex also powers payments for Binance, the largest crypto exchange by volume. The company has looked to the emerging industry for growth as its shares have been under pressure after U.S. short seller Spruce Point’s December 2021 report made a number of allegations about the company, which Nuvei has said are misleading and inaccurate.
