The payments processor, which is backed by the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, posted net income of US$5.3 million in the second quarter, down 54 per cent from a year earlier. Revenues were up 13 per cent, to US$345.5 million. (The Logic)
Talking point: The results come after Nuvei agreed in April to be taken private by Boston private equity firm Advent International in an all-cash deal valuing the Montreal fintech company at US$6.3-billion. Quebec’s highest court approved the transaction in June, and the deal could close as soon as late 2024. The results also come just days after Nuvei announced a plan to acquire Brazilian payments company Pay2All for an undisclosed price, marking the company’s latest effort to expand into Latin America after it started offering in-country payments services in Colombia earlier this year.
