Talking point: Founded in 2016, Stay22 said it processed more than US$1 billion in transactions last year and has more than tripled its headcount in the past two years. This is the first major outside investment in the company, according to PitchBook data, and the company said it will use the money to accelerate its international expansion, invest further in AI-related product innovation, and expand into working with creators beyond the travel category. Summit Partners, an alternative investor that focuses on growth equity, sees Stay22 as a company that provides “essential infrastructure at the intersection of travel, content and commerce,” according to a statement from managing director Colin Mistele.
