Talking point: The Intel spinout braved the public markets despite one of the worst years for U.S. tech IPOs, which have sunk to record lows since the 2008 financial crisis. Tech IPO volumes fell 90 per cent in the first nine months of this year compared to 2021. Meanwhile, shares in both Microsoft and Google parent company Alphabet plunged Wednesday after the companies released disappointing third-quarter earnings reports a day earlier, erasing about US$278 billion in combined market value.
