Talking point: The technology giant noted that the Toronto hub will play an important role in the creation of Meta’s metaverse. “This is a tremendous show of confidence in our province and our workers, and we’re thrilled to welcome them to Toronto,” said Premier Doug Ford in a press conference. He added that because many of the jobs will be remote, opportunities in the rest of the province will also grow. As my colleague Martin reported last year, the company has worked to assert its influence in academia, media and government.
